What do Midwest Autism Centers do?

Midwest Centers are specially designed medical offices that provide early-intervention, center-based ABA therapy to children with Autism Spectrum Disorder. 

ABA is an acronym that stands for Applied Behavior Analysis, a type of evidence-based behavior therapy that is considered the “gold standard” of Autism treatment. ABA is often used to help children on the spectrum build daily living, social, communication, and school readiness skills. 

What ages do you work with?

At Midwest, we specialize in what’s called early-intervention” services for children up to age five. Early-intervention programs are designed to help children with developmental delays catch up to their peers in key areas like communication or life skills before entering school.

Midwest has offices located in:

  • Altoona, Iowa
  • Ankeny, Iowa
  • Waukee, Iowa
  • West Des Moines, Iowa
  • Edina, Minnesota
  • Woodbury, Minnesota
  • Southfield, Michigan (Coming Fall 2024)

Do you accept insurance?

Yes, we accept most major private insurances including Aetna, BlueCross BlueShield, Cigna, Health Partners commercial plans and more. We also accept Iowa TotalCare and other Medicaid plans in Iowa. 

*Iowa families please note Hawki health insurance plans do not provide coverage for ABA therapy services.*

Do you provide Autism Assessments?

No, Midwest Centers do not currently provide assessment services. 

How many hours of therapy does my child need?

The number of therapy hours your child needs will depend on many factors including their age, current strengths and challenges, Autism level, and family background. Upon enrollment, our clinical teams will conduct an intake assessment for your child to help determine the number of therapy hours needed. 

Can I self refer or do I need a provider referral?

Parents and caregivers are always welcome to self-refer their child for services! We do not require a provider referral for enrollment.

Can I enroll if my child doesn't have an Autism diagnosis?

Midwest Centers require an Autism diagnosis for enrollment. Check out our diagnostic resource lists below if you need help finding a diagnostic provider!
