The holiday season is a time of joy, togetherness, and giving. It’s a period when communities come together to support one another, ensuring that everyone can share in the festive spirit. This year, we’re proud to announce our partnership with the Des Moines Area Religious Council (DMARC) to host a holiday food drive supporting their food pantry network.
How the Food Drive Works
Our goal is to make the food drive as inclusive and impactful as possible! Through December 31st, each of our four Iowa locations are set up as collection points for the donation of non-perishable food items. Any community member can provide a donation, you don’t need to be a Midwest client or staff member to participate!
Altoona Drop: 950 28th Ave. SW, Suite 2, Altoona, IA 50009
Ankeny Drop: 2405 N. Ankeny Blvd, Ankeny, IA 50023
Waukee Drop: 287 SE Westown Pkwy, Waukee, IA 50263
West Des Moines Drop: 1280 Office Plaza Dr, West Des Moines, IA 50266
What to donate?
You can contribute by donating any non-perishable food items or pantry staples like flour or sugar. Top requested items include peanut butter, canned fruits and healthy cereals.
Other Ways To Give
DMARC is also accepting monetary donations to provide holiday meals to families in need. And, thanks to local donors, every dollar donated through December 31st will be matched.
That means:
- A $10 donation provides an emergency 3-day supply of food for TWO individuals
- A $20 donation provides access to nutritious food for TWO families of four.
- A $30 donation fills TWO cupboards with essential, nutritious ingredients.
- A $100 donation provides 252 culturally appropriate meals to immigrant and refugee families.
You can send a monetary donation to DMARC using our Midwest donation page: https://meet-the-match.justgiving-sites.com/fundraising/midwest-autism-and-therapy-center
Why Partnering with DMARC Matters
DMARC has been an integral part of the Des Moines community for years, working to combat food insecurity through its network of food pantries and emergency assistance services. By joining forces with DMARC, we hope to maximize impact of our food drive this holiday season!
