Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

What do Midwest Autism Centers do?

Midwest Autism & Therapy Centers provide early-intervention, center-based ABA therapy for children ages 2-5 diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder. ABA stands for Applied Behavior Analysis, and is a type of evidence-based behavior therapy used to help children on the Spectrum build daily living, social, communication, and school readiness skills.

What ages do you work with?

At Midwest, we specialize in early-intervention ABA therapy services for children ages 2-5. Early-intervention programs are designed to help children with developmental delays catch up to their peers in key areas like communication or life skills before entering school.

Do you require an Autism Diagnosis?

Yes, due to insurance plan requirements, children must have a formal diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder before we can begin the enrollment process.

Where are you located?

Do you accept insurance?

Yes, we accept most major private insurances including BlueCross BlueShield, Cigna, Health Partners commercial plans and more. We also accept Iowa TotalCare and other Medicaid plans in Iowa.

*Minnesota Medicaid coming soon*

Do you provide diagnostic assessments for Autism?

No, Midwest does not currently offer assessments to diagnose Autism Spectrum Disorder.

We do provide functional behavior assessments during our intake process. A functional behavior assessment, helps a clinician identify social, emotional, fine/gross motor, or behavioral challenges that may be affecting a child’s development or quality of life. Our clinical teams use functional behavior assessments to craft individualized therapy plans that address challenge areas and build on strengths.

How many hours of therapy does my child need?

The number of therapy hours your child needs will depend on many factors including their age, strengths, challenges, Autism level, and family background. Upon enrollment, our clinical teams will conduct a functional behavior assessment for your child to help determine a recommended number of therapy hours

Can I self refer or do I need a referral from a doctor?

Parents and caregivers are always welcome to self-refer their child for services! We do not require a provider referral for enrollment. To enroll, you can fill out our online enrollment request or call our enrollment hotline at (515) 513-9649
